Sensory Bags at The Ringling

by The Ringling

New Pilot Program for our Visitors with Neurodivergencies

The Ringling is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive experience for all of our visitors. As part of this effort, beginning February 1, 2024, The Ringling will begin piloting a program offering Sensory Bags for our visitors with neurodivergencies.

A trip to a museum can be an overwhelming or even stressful experience, especially for individuals with sensory processing disorders and other neurodivergencies. Some spaces are quieter than others, and some can be overly stimulating. We want to ensure that a visit to The Ringling is enjoyable for everyone.

Visitors may request a sensory bag when they check in. These bags are free for visitors and theirs to keep. The bags include noise-reducing earplugs, several fidget toys, a pair of sunglasses, a sensory map of the museum, and a visual cue card and pencil. This cue card includes photographs of venues and activities and prompts visitors to “make a plan” for their visit.

We are excited about this initiative and our hope is that the bags are well received. A survey is included with each bag and we look forward to receiving your feedback to help us improve and grow the program.

The Ringling offers a range of programs and accessibility aids. When planning your visit, please consider the following information and resources:
